October’s Coffee Break: Director of World Skate, Francesco Zangarini
On Thursday, October 21st at 3 pm CET World Skate Sports Director Francesco Zangarini joined us on Zoom for a Coffee Break talk with a question/answer session.
There is a lot of excitement over Skating and its Olympic debut at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Being able to discuss some of that excitement, the lessons, and the future of the Sport with Director Zangarini was a great experience for us all.
Director Zangarini reminded us, skateboarding is a lifestyle. World Skate includes several board sports from skateboarding to inline hockey to scooter. Throughout the process of bringing skateboarding to the becoming an Olympic Stageport, keeping that in the forefront of planning was crucial in their success in Tokyo. “We need to keep the skateboarding community; we need to keep the values,” he told us when we asked what was going into planning for the future.
He also told us to expect more countries competing, there are currently 125 National Federations and they expect many more by Paris 2024 as well as more stories as inspirational as Olympic Medalist Rayssa Leal. To see where she started: Rayssa Leal Tokyo Olympics
