MEMOSIAN News: Besim Hasani named as Honorary President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee

This year started off with good news about MEMOSIAN Besim Hasani from Kosovo. During the 40th meeting of the Kosovo Olympic Committee (KOK) Executive Committee, under the leadership of President Ismet Krasniqi, MEMOSIAN Besim Hasani was named Honorary President in recognition of his contributions to the Kosovo’s Olympic movement from 1996 to 2021.

In December 2014, under then-President Besim Hasani’s leadership, the Kosovo Olympic Committee was accepted as a full member of the International Olympic Committee. This was just a few weeks before Besim’s second session of MEMOS XVIII in English.

His hard work and dedication to get Kosovo recognized quickly paid off. In 2016, at the Rio Summer Olympic Games, athlete Majlinda Kelmendi took home Kosovo’s first Olympic medal, the gold in women’s 52 kg category of judo.

This was not the end of his professional successes. In 2021, former President Besim Hasani was awarded the prestigious “Olympic Order” award from IOC President Thomas Bach as pictured in this photo from Koha. To read more about this click here
